After the hugely disappointing rates recorded last vanilla harvest season, farmers are optimistic that the prices will recover this season.
Farmers who invested a lot last season might have seen very little returns because the cost of production for the crop is too high. The drop in the vanilla prices over the past four seasons has prompted some farmers to uproot the crop given the current market uncertainty, calling on the government to intervene and look for better markets.
